Arnold Myers

It is with deep sadness but also joy in the Lord that we share that Robert Arnold Myers, 85 years old of Success, MS died peacefully with family at his side on Monday afternoon, August 12, 2024, in Gulfport, MS. Arnold was born in Laurel, MS, on January 16, 1939, to Robert and Bama Oleena Myers of the Myrick community in MS.

Arnold grew up in Laurel, MS and joined the Navy where he served for 6 years. He moved to Gulfport, MS, and opened an ornamental iron works business with his brother-in-law before joining Ryan Walsh Stevedoring where he worked for 22 years.

Arnold and Ann then moved to Theodore Alabama where they opened a day-care business that they operated for 26 years before moving to Success, MS, in 2020. Arnold was an avid golfer for many years highlighted by various club championships, a hole-in-one and shooting his age at 73. He also played several musical instruments and entertained many friends and family and others over the years with his renditions of popular hits as well as many gospel favorites. He often played at church and gave his time selflessly at Senior Living Facilities.

Arnold was a devoted husband and loving father. Popps, Pawpaw, or Papa as called by his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was fun-loving and shared his many talents with his family. Arnold loved to bring a smile to everyone’s face. His smile will be missed.

He is survived by his Ann, his wife of 42 years; five children; blessed with 10 grandchildren and is survived by 9. He was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Friday, August 16, 2024, at Trinity Funeral Servies from 10:30AM-12:00PM with services at 12:00PM. This will be followed by a brief graveside service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 8910 Carl Leggett Road, Gulfport, MS. A reception will be held at Success Baptist Church, 22329 Success Road, Saucier, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family would request donations be made to Singing River Hospital-Cancer Center, 15200 Community Road, Gulfport, MS 39532, “Cancer Center”. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Myers family in their time of need, we ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers for the days ahead.
