Annelle McDade Carroll, 85, passed away June 01, 2024 at her home in Lumberton, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 12, 1938 at the old Lumberton hospital, the youngest of four children to John Curly and Caludia Mae (Morrison) McDade. Annelle grew up in Lumberton, spent some time in New Mexico and Texas, and later returned home to Lumberton. She attended Lumberton schools, and was well known for her efforts on the basketball court. Annelle went on to Nashville Women's Business College where she continued playing basketball, and earned her degree in business. After retuning to Lumberton, she worked at Lumberton High School as the Food Service Administrator for many years, until her retirement in 2003. She was a Christian by faith, attending and serving at First Baptist Church of Lumberton for many years. In retirement, Annelle stayed busy taking care of her grandkids. She loved to play bridge, dominos, and with her Bunko group on a regular basis. Known to most as around Lumberton "Nanny", she made these "secret recipie" cakes...known as "Nanny Cakes", and everyone just loved them! She was always active, either in her home or in the community. Annelle enjoyed her plants and things around home, but spent most of her time doing for others. That was her, and for all that she was, she will be forever loved and missed by all who knew and loved her. Annelle was preceded by her parents, John and Caludia McDade; her sisters Johnny Frank Boese and her husband Bob, Holland Elizabeth Burns and her husband Rodney, and her brother Toxie Oliver McDade, along with many friends and her sister-in-law. Left to cherish her memories are: her children, daughters Laura (Kenny) Carlisle and Lisa Smith, both of Lumberton. Annelle leaves a legacy of four grandchildren: Leslie (Jason) Dunn, Kayla (Andrew) Burns, Colton Smith (Rebecca), and Olivia Smith (Mikey), with seven great-grands: Kara, Paislee, Deklan, Emelia, Nash, Nova, and Rylan. She also leaves Sonny Carroll, sisters-in-law, June Burge and Sandra Green, along with numerous extended family and friends through the years. Annelle's final wishes were to be cremated, which her family is honoring. The family has planned a Memorial Celebration for Annelle to be held on her 86th birthday. She loved birthday parties, so we as a family thought it would be great to celebrate her life...on her birthday! Please join us at First Baptist Church of Lumberton on Wednesday, June 12th, 2024 for visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00, with her son-in-law Bro. Kenny Carlisle officiating. Our family wants to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, the calls, texts, food and prayers, have been overwhelming. In lieu of flowers you can donate to the Lumberton Basketball Hardwood Club at Cadence Bank in Lumberton. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Carroll family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
