Alan Dale Slamans, a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the young age of 61, on June 14, 2023, in his hometown of Gulfport, after a courageous battle with cancer. Alan was born on October 26, 1961, to Billy Harold Slamans and Betty Sue Montgomery, in Gulfport, MS. A lifelong resident of Gulfport, Alan graduated from Harrison Central High School in 1979 and went on to complete his Associate's Degree in 1983, from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. Alan's strong work ethic and dedication to his craft led him to a successful career in the electrical industry. He began his career with Mississippi Power, where he spent 20 years before moving on to work with numerous electrical companies, most recently completing his 5th year with Pike Electric. He was very proud to spread his knowledge to the younger linemen over the 42 years of his career. Alan was an avid sports fan, with a particular passion for football, NASCAR, and baseball. In his youth, Alan played baseball in high school and was even scouted by the Houston Astros. His love for sports continued throughout his life, watching Drew Brees and the Saints win the Superbowl in 2010, and most recently watching the Atlanta Braves win the world series in 2021. Alan's interests extended beyond sports though, he also cherished moments spent sitting on the porch, especially listening to the rain with his beloved dog, Lucy. Alan was a proud and devoted family man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Alan is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Harold Slamans and Betty Sue Montgomery. He is survived by his loving wife of six years, Amber Eve Gardner, his second love, Lucy; his siblings, Billy Slamans Jr., David Slamans, and Cari Lott; his children Joey (Stacey) Slamans, Elizabeth Slamans, and Shyanne (Johnathan) Ladner. Alan's memory will also be cherished by his numerous grandchildren, nephews, and nieces, who will remember him as a kind and caring patriarch. Alan's legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his knowledge, generosity, and unwavering love for his family and friends. As we mourn the loss of a remarkable man, let us also celebrate the life of Alan Dale Slamans, who brought joy and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to know him.
