Joseph Wayne Langley

October 2, 1975 — April 24, 2021

Wiggins, MS

Joseph Wayne Langley, 45, passed away Saturday at his home in Wiggins. He was born October 2, 1975 in Hattiesburg, and adopted at age 11 by Otis Earl and Mary Ann (Breland) Langley. Joseph, or Joey as most knew him, was brought home to Perk and was an active, athletic young boy. He loved riding his bicycle, playing baseball and fishing, though not necessarily in that order. He loved the water and playing in it, but never learned to swim. When his mother passed away in 1997, depression became a struggle for Joey. When his brother was tragically lost in an accident in 2013, it became even worse and he developed an eating disorder. Joey began to gain weight and it was so out of control that at one point, he tipped the scales close to 800 lbs. Of course this led to even more issues for him, not to mention the physical problems that came with it. Through all of that, Joey remained as positive as he could. He had begun to lose some weight over the past couple of years, dropping close to 300. Joey is remembered as a loving, easy-going guy. While his physical size was large, it did not match the size of his loving, giving heart. A Christian by faith, Joseph was a member at Ebeneezer Baptist Church, attending as often as he could physically do so. He continued to love fishing whenever possible and playing games on his laptop. A loving son and friend to all, he will be forever missed by those who knew him best. He was preceded by his mother, Mary Ann Langley, and his brother David Langley, along with his four-pawed best friends, Buddy, Rex and Meme.  Left to cherish his memories are: his loving father, Earl Langley of Wiggins; nephews Gunter and Coco, both of Brooklyn; his close friend and caregiver for several years, Keith Butler, and his "little boy" Rosco. He leaves many other extended family and friends, all of whom Joey loved deeply. A graveside service is set for 11:00 AM Saturday morning, May 1st at the Hill Cemetery in Carnes, with Bro. Jeremy Smith officiating. In lieu of floral arrangements, please consider making a donation to help cover the costs of funeral expenses for the family. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Langley family in their time of need, asking everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this trying time.
