Dustin Lee Craven, 30 of McHenry, passed away in a tragic accident early Sunday morning, May 19, 2024, in Chackbay, LA. Dustin was born on May 30, 1993 in Gulfport, the middle of three sons to Patrick Neil Craven and Shelly Cheri Ladner. He grew up in Saucier and loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing, racing whatever would move, was his thing. If it had a motor, the goal was to get to go as fast as possible. Dustin, or "Doe doe" as he was affectionately known, was close to his brothers and they were always in to something. They stuck together, both as young boys and adults. He attended Old Dominion Christian School, graduating with the Class of 2012. From there, he went to work in the construction field as a carpenter. He was a quick learner and eventually opened his own company, building commercial buildings and remodeling existing ones. Dustin is fondly remembered as a fun-loving guy who was always the life of the party. He loved spending time with his family and friends, mud-riding, racing, or just hanging out having fun. Fix it, break it, and repeat was just the norm. Dustin did enjoy going to the gym, but aside from that, he was rarely by himself. He loved his Harley, riding as often as he could. He loved his daughter more than life itself, and his Beagle "Duke" was among his favorite companions. Though he leaves his friends and family far too soon, his memories will be forever cherished by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his father, Patrick Craven, and his grandfather, Louis "Papa Louie" Carroll. Left to cherish his memories are: his only daughter, Avery Craven and her mother Kaileigh Skinner of Saucier; his loving mother, Shelly Cheri Ladner-Glidewell (Gary) of McHenry; his brothers, PJ and Anthony Craven, both of McHenry; his maternal grandparents, Polly Ladner of Saucier and Marlin "Papa Keith" (Gina) Ladner of Lizana; his uncle Dinky (Lauri) Ladner of Wiggins, his aunt Tammy (Keith) Cuevas, also of Saucier; nieces and nephews: Kailyn, Maverick, and Blakely Craven, all of Kiln; and special family members, Mackenzie Simmons and Dustin's future daughter Kenzley Nicole Craven, Brook and her daughters, Carli, Audri, and Elli, together with numerous extended family and friends far and wide. Funeral services are set for Friday, May 24th at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by a chapel service at noon. Afterward, Dustin will be laid to rest in the Broadus Cemetery on Weekly Road in Saucier. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Craven family in their time of need and asks that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers through the days ahead.
