Thomas Smith Obituary

Mr. Thomas James "T.J." Smith, 41 of Slidell, passed away in a tragic accident Sunday June 2nd. T.J. was born July 24, 1977 in New Orleans, the baby of two children to Hugh Earl & Cynthia Ann (Giglio) Smith. He grew up between Slidell and Picayune and came to enjoy eating cereal and fishing. He did play baseball and soccer as a young boy, and was an entrepreneur from an early age, often renting his rake out to his friends. After graduating high school, T.J. went to work in construction as a carpenter and hanging drywall. He was a definite handy-man, a true "jack of all trades, and master of none" so to speak. T.J. had one of those magnetic personalities, and if you met him you were most likely his friend. A protective and loving son, brother, and father, he was also head-strong and set in his ways to boot. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. Preceded in death by his daughter, Aubrey Jade Smith, mother, Cynthia, and grandmother Joann McDonald, T.J. leaves to cherish his memories: his fiancé Amanda Smith; his children, Tyler, Aliah, and Chloe Smith, and Kevin McPherson; his sister, Amy Smith; his father, Charles Johnson; aunts & uncles Ronald & Shirley Perkins and John & Cheryl Perrette; one nephew, Ty Lee Smith, cousins Melanie Catalano and Emily Perkins, and more extended family and friends that one could count. His final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Smith family in their time of need, and asks that you keep them in your prayers over the coming days.
