Mr. Orlow Daniel Reed, 79 of Perkinston, passed away Friday at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Dan, as he was known by those who knew him best, was born in the "Show Me" state of Missouri on August 17, 1939. Losing his mother just before his 4th birthday, Dan spent most of his childhood with his grandparents, Orlow & Floretta Harrison, who later adopted him and raised him as their own. He would also spend summers with his Uncle Wilbur & Aunt Lois Breedlove, and his cousins Lois McDonald and Jeanne Snyder. Dan spent most of his adult life in South Mississippi, and made a successful career operating heavy equipment. He was self-employed in the construction field, and also worked with FEMA to assist people in the aftermath of Camille and other hurricanes on the MS Coast and elsewhere, earthquake recovery in California, the Missouri Flood of '93, and other incidents as needed. He was widely known and loved by many for those efforts. He married his current wife and soul mate, Inez Curry, and they spent the last 34 years together. Rarely did you see them apart, as they worked side-by-side and enjoyed the outdoors, sailing, horseback riding, fishing, and more. They were always together, taking extended trips whenever possible, both on the water and road, making the itinerary as they went as they enjoyed life together. They would visit islands, explore National Parks and visit other places as they went. Dan was a fun-loving, devoted husband, loving father and adventurous spirit that will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He is preceded by his parents, Paul & Betty May Reed; his grandparents Orlow & Flonetta Harrison; Uncle Wilbur & Aunt Lois Breedlove; his son, Jerry Reed, and a grandson, Chad Eichorn. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of 34 years, Inez; his children: daughters Betty Collins, Anita Eichorn, and Bonnie Levens, with sons Terry, Randy, and Gary Reed, and Rex & Russel Lamey. He leaves a legacy of fifteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grands, and countless numbers of extended family, friends, and co-workers from coast to coast. The family will host a Celebration of Life for Dan on what would have been his 80th birthday, Saturday, August 17th, 3:00 PM until at the Reed home in Perkinston, with everyone welcome to attend. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Reed family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
