Mrs. Barbara Ann Rutledge

Mrs. Barbara Ann (Shattles) Rutledge, 76 of Lucedale, passed on to her eternal home in Heaven Thursday, April 11, 2019 at Asbury Hospice House in Hattiesburg. Barbara was born October 18, 1942 in Pascagoula, the only child of Austin & Helen Shattles. She graduated from Perkinston Agricultural High School in 1961 and shortly thereafter, married the love of her life and husband of 57 years, James Rutledge. Barbara dedicated her life to her husband, her family, her Lord, and the hundreds of puppies she raised that brought joy to so many. In addition to raising beautiful Yorkie and Chihuahuas, Barbara loved to crochet, sew, and fish on red creek with her family. A dedicated, faithful Christian and prayer warrior, she served the Lord with all her heart and soul. She will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who's life she touched. Preceded by her parents, Austin & Helen, Barbara is survived by: her loving husband, James M. Rutledge, Sr.; daughters Melanie (Keith) Webb of Albertville, AL and Rhonda (Les) Hall of Huntsville, AL, and her son, James M. (Susan) Rutledge, Jr. of Lucedale. Her legacy includes eight grandchildren: Sonya (Brent) Pell, Ashley (Sean) McGinnis, Bethany (Turmor) McLemore, Katelyn (Matthew) Palmer, Jack and Brent McLaurin, Courtney (Nance), and Jessica Hall; with eleven great-grands, and numerous extended family and friends. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday evening, April 14th from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Trinity Funeral Services in McHenry. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Monday, April 15th, with interment to follow at the Rutledge Family Cemetery in the Ramsey Springs community. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all the special people at Asbury Hospice House, Southern Hearts Hospice, and Sparrow Hills Personal Care Home, for providing such wonderful care to our beloved mother and grandmother. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her honor to the Alzheimer's Association, which can easily be done at www.act.alz.org. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Rutledge family in their time of need, and asks that you keep them in your prayers over the coming days.
