Mr. Laird Ivan Siegel, 68 of Ocean Springs, passed away Friday, June 12th at Merit Health in Biloxi. Laird was born September 10, 1950 in Buffalo, NY, and was the oldest of two children adopted by Arthur B. & Arlene H. (Weiner) Siegel. The Siegel's owned an toy store, and raised their children in a Jewish home. Laird grew up and spent most of his life in and around Atlanta, GA, where he came to love fishing. He also lived in Israel for six years, searching out his heritage and genealogy. When he returned to the U.S., he made a career in the hotel & restaurant management field. Laird's hobbies were tying fishing flies with his children, collecting guns, and raising Golden Retrievers. A devoted father who dearly loved and adored his children, Laird was a deep thinking man that loved to read. He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his parents, Arthur & Arlene Siegel. Left to cherish his memories are: his wife, Pam Siegel; his children: a son Taylor Siegel of O.S., and daughters Alexis Siegel of Oxford, MS and Kate Siegel of Brooklyn, NY; his only sister, Pescha (Elliott) Penso of Atalnta, and their sons whom Laird was very close to, Jared & Ryan Penso, along with many friends, neighbors and guests through the years. Laird's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday evening, July 15th at his home in Ocean Springs to celebrate his life, and all who knew and loved him are encouraged to attend.
