Mr. James Edward Herrin, Jr, 47 of Lumberton, passed away Saturday, April 13, 2019. James was born September 10, 1971 in Hattiesburg, the oldest of three children to James E. & Elizabeth (Cooper) Herrin, Sr. He grew up in Lumberton, loving to be outdoors hunting or fishing. James was an athletic young man, playing football as he attended Lumberton schools. Given his choice of numbers for his jersey, he chose 71 for the year he was born. He decided to forego any further education, and went to work in the logging woods with his father. After several years there, James transitioned into construction where he worked as a carpenter. He loved working with wood, especially carving. He had become accomplished at making walking sticks with intricate designs on them, painted and varnished as well, making several over the years. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, which he did as often as he could. James is remembered as a kind-hearted, helpful brother. A loving but very determined and protective son, he will surely be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was preceded by his father, James E. Herrin, Sr, and his younger brother, Shaun E. Herrin. James is survived by: his children, Cory (Holly) Eden of Lumberton, Kurstie (Allen) Ladner and Dustin Herrin, both of Purvis; his mother, Elizabeth Herrin, and his sister, Jeanna (Mike) Mann, also of Lumberton, along with 4 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. A graveside service will be held Monday, April 29, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Union Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to help cover funeral expenses for his mother. No donation is too small, and all will be greatly appreciated. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Herrin family, and asks everyone to keep them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
