Harold Colwell, Jr. Obituary

Harold Craig Colwell, Jr., 46 of Kiln, died in a vehicle accident early Sunday morning, November 3rd. Craig was the baby of six children, born September 8, 1973 in Gulfport, MS to Harold C. & Beverly L. (White)  Colwell, Sr. He grew up in the Kiln and Bay-Waveland area and loved the outdoors. His passion early on was riding his bicycle, which he did...everywhere! Craig also loved Tonka toys and roller skating. In fact, his first real job was at the old Twin Pines skating rink in Waveland. He also loved to dance and did so quite often, winning several competitions along the way. He was a quick learner and rapidly became a "jack of all trades". He became quite the mechanic, one who could diagnose and usually advise how to fix a vehicle simply by listening to it. After his educational pursuits, Craig made a career working sheet metal for the Orleans Parish School Board. He was by all accounts a truly selfless man, a reflection of his Christian faith. If he saw someone in need and could help, he would. Craig is remembered as a man with the "biggest heart", a member of the Best Dad Club according to his sons, who he loved dearly and was very active with. He mentored and taught them so much in their lives. A loving son, brother, father and friend, he will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his brother Alan Proston and his sister, Leah Colwell. Left to cherish his memories are: his sons, Dylan and Caleb Colwell, both of Slidell; his mother, Beverly Colwell of Kiln; his father Craig (Lonnie) Colwell, Sr. of Gulfport; his siblings, sisters Kim Colwell of NC and Rebecca (David) Porter of Las Vegas, NV, and his brother Robert (Teresa) Poston of Lumberton, MS, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and countless friends. Craig's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A Celebration of Life has been set for Saturday, November 9th at Lighthouse Church of God in Biloxi. The service will begin at 11:30 AM and all who knew him are encouraged to attend.
