Edward Glover, Jr. Obituary

Mr. Edward "Pop" Glover, 85 of Wiggins, went home to be with the Lord Friday afternoon at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg. He was born June 19, 1933 in Brice, TX, one of two children to Edward S. & Birtie E. (Wiles) Glover. His parents travelled to California every summer to pick fruit. In 1945, they purchased a farm with 20 milk cows and moved to Gridley, CA. Ed grew up working, milking cows through high school, graduating in 1950. Ed joined the US Navy, serving in the Philippines and Whidbey Island, WA. After his discharge in 1954, a young lady named Edna Owens caught his eye at a church service in Biggs, CA. They were married Feb. 19, 1955, and have been together since. They lived in CA while Ed obtained an AA degree from Yuba Jr. College, and went to work for Aerojet General in Sacremento where he remained until moving to United Airlines in 1967. 26 years later, Ed retired and moved his family to Wiggins, MS, and later moved his mother here as well. He took care of her and took her on trips until her passing in 1998. Ed, or "Pop" as he was affectionately known, loved the outdoors and playing golf. He worked at Pine Burr for several years, and every year for the holidays, Pop loved to bake cookies and decorate the home and yard for Christmas each year. Neighbors and friends were always invited to an open house around Dec. 1st. He also loved to garden and grow vegetables, including many prize-winning sweet potatoes, most of which Pop gave away. In 2002, he turned his life around, becoming a Holy Spirit filled Christian. Pop loved his family, including his church family and neighbors as well. Those who truly knew him, loved him as well. Pop will be sadly missed by all whose life he touched. He was preceded by his parents, Edward S. & Birtie E. Glover. Left to cherish his memories are: his loving wife of 64 years, Edna; their children, daughters Sharon Olson of Wiggins and Evelyn (Paul) Brunelle of Long Beach, MS, and sons Russell (Jennifer) Glover of Fountain, CO and Robert Glover of Las Vegas, NV; his only sister, Myree Morris of AZ; six grandchildren, Melissa, Darrell, Isaac, Cassandra, Michael, and Jasmine, together with nine great-grands, numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends and neighbors through the years. Pop's final wishes were to be cremated, which his family is honoring. A Celebration of Life has been set for 6:00 PM on June 4, 2019 at Word Alive Revival Center in Wiggins. He will be laid to rest on June 5th at Biloxi National Cemetery. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve Ms. Edna and the Glover family in this difficult time, and asks that everyone keep them lifted up in prayer over the coming days.
