Dorothy June (Bosarge) Ladner

Mrs. Dorothy "June" Ladner, 75 of the Barth community, passed away Saturday morning at her home, surrounded by her family. June was born June 2, 1943 in Gulfport, the daughter of Hubert & Jessie Lee (Gardner) Bosarge. She grew up in Gulfport with her 9 siblings, and was a family oriented lady who loved to draw & color, read, and fish. June was swept off her feet by a young Ray Ladner in the early 60s, and they were married May 12, 1962. Ray and June made their home and spent their life in the Barth community. She was a genuine homemaker, and referred to as "the glue that held the family together". She loved to sing, tell stories and help others whenever she could. A wonderful cook that made a mean pot of shrimp gumbo, June would be quite upset if you didn't eat while at her home. She is remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother, the "other half" of Ray's life, and is now the angel watching over them all. June will be fondly remembered, and sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded by her parents, Hubert & Jessie Bosarge; her daughter, Carla Earlene Ladner; her sisters, Peggy Pittman and Betty Gault, and a brother, James Bosarge. Left to cherish her memories are: her loving husband of 57 years, Ray Ladner; their children, daughters Tina (Elvis) Williamson, Becky (Carlos) Velasquez, and Donna Ladner (Kenny Dillard), and their son, Jimmy (Crystal) Ladner; her brothers, Earl (Janice) Bosarge, Jerry (Nancy) Bosarge, Raymond (Elaine) Bosarge, Henry (Ruth) Bosarge, and Paul Bosarge; and her sister Wendy (Ron) Dodge; twelve grandchildren: Carlos, Francisco, and Devon Velasquez, Madaline Ladner, Cheyanne (Zach) Coulter, Lincoln Williamson, Julianna, Cassidy, and Caleb Ladner, Elvis (Hannah) Williamson, Jr., Brandi (Terry) Stephens, and her namesake, Lyla June Dillard; one great-grand, Kylee Ann Williamson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. The family will receive friends for visitation Sunday evening, May 12 from 6:00 until 9:00 PM in the sanctuary of Community Baptist Church off Barth Road. The funeral service will be at 10:00 AM Monday morning, with interment to follow at the Ladner Cemetery.
