Charles Everett Blakeslee, Sr., 62 of Perkinston, fought valiantly but lost his battle with cancer Friday morning. Charles was born October 24, 1956 in Ft. Knox, Kentucy, one of four children to William L. & Martha Frieda (Franzkowiak) Blakeslee, Sr. He would grow up in a couple of different places while his father served in the US Army, spending most of his early years in the Washington, D.C. area. Charles moved out to Texas as a young man and went to work in the construction industry for a stone & brick mason. A quick learner, he picked up the trade and made a career of it himself. Many years later, Charles moved to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, living in Grandy for a few years before making his way to South MS. He was a man who "was definitely set in his ways, living life the way he wanted regardless of what others said" recalls his brother. A dedicated and hard working guy who had his share of struggles in life, Charles fought through them the only way he knew how. He is remembered as a loving son, brother, and father that was always there if you needed him, and will be sadly missed. Charles was preceded by his nephew, Joey Rishel. Left to cherish his memories are: his children, one daughter Charlotte Blakeslee of Maryland, and sons Charles "Chuck" Jr. of Michigan and Jake Blakeslee of Perkinston; one granddaughter, Clara; his parents, William L. & Martha F. Blakeslee, Sr. and his three siblings, sisters Christina (Robert) Lowe of Woolmarket and Roxanna Blakeslee of Maryland, and his brother, William "Bill" Blakeslee, Jr. (Cheryl Bollmeyer). of Gulfport; nephews, J.R. Rishel and Robert Lowe Jr. and nieces, Tessa Moscattia, Tara Ropel, Taylor Smith along with many extended family and friends. Charles' was a simple man who's final wishes were to be cremated without fanfare. The family will set a memorial service at a later date. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the Blakeslee family in their time of need, and asks everyone to keep them lifted up in your prayers in this difficult time.
