William James Obituary

William James, Jr., 80, of Gulfport, MS., passed away on April 14, 2024, at The Pillars in Biloxi, MS. William was born on June 28, 1943, in Mississippi to his parents William and Lillie B (Terry) James, Sr. William was always known as a hardworking man who never failed at providing for his family. He spent his life in construction and for many years owned Williams Construction, providing the Gulf Coast with honest and quality service. In 2003, William would meet the love of his life, Lorna Henry, and spend the next twenty years of his life taking care of every little thing to ensure she was cared for day in and day out. Anything Lorna asked for, she got, which was a big deal for William, as that was not the case for just anyone, but Lorna was his greatest love. William loved her children like they were his own, and always made sure the kids had "some change in their pocket". Until the very end, William still tried to take care of Lorna, asking his famous question, "Did you eat?".  William will be immensely missed by Lorna and everyone who knew and loved him. William is preceded in death by his father, William James, Sr.; and three brothers, Jack, Gus, and Jesse James. Left to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of twenty years, Lorna (Henry) James of Gulfport; his bonus children, who he loved as his own, Kelroy Janes of Connecticut, Venise (Wayne) Thompson-Fisher of New Jersey, and Oniel Leslie of Gulfport; his mother, Lillie B James; three sisters, Bessie James, Darlene (Kenny) Fairley, and Shirley (Jackie) Childers; two brothers, Tommy and Freddie James; his "forever sis-in-law" Marcia Henry; and one brother-in-law, Howard Henry both of Jamaica, who both loved him very very much. William leaves a legacy of five grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Services for William will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at Finley Cemetery for a graveside service beginning at 10:00 for a short visitation. Trinity Funeral Services is honored to serve the James family during this time and would ask that you remember them in your thoughts and prayers over the coming days.
