Jerri King Obituary

Jerri Lynn King passed away peacefully on April 16, 2024, in Gulfport, Mississippi. Born on March 30, 1962, in Long Beach, Mississippi, her early years were spent in various locations as she embraced the life of an Air Force child before her family settled in Poplarville, Mississippi. Before embracing her true calling as a homemaker, she worked at nuclear power plants during shutdowns. However, it was in the heart of her home where Jerri found her greatest joy and purpose. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, affectionately known as "MA" to everyone. Her role as a mother was her proudest achievement, and she cherished every moment spent nurturing and caring for her family. She was a big kid at heart, always ready to enjoy the little moments in life and create lasting memories. Her warm, welcoming nature meant that she never met a stranger, greeting everyone with her radiant smile and laughter. She was an avid gardener, taking immense pride in her azaleas and gardenias. Her love for the outdoors was evident in her meticulous care of the yard, where she could often be found weed eating, mowing the lawn, and tending to her plants. She was a meticulous housekeeper, known to clean with such thoroughness that even the ceiling was not spared from the vacuum on occasion. No matter the destination, she ensured that her mascara and eyeliner were perfectly applied, and her signature bangles jangled like music to your ears as she moved. Her love for music was a constant soundtrack to her life, with the sounds of classic rock and a particular R&B song often filling the air, especially in the backyard where she would dance and sway to the beat. Her beautiful and spunky soul will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Summer King and Autumn (PJ Looney) Hariel; grandchildren, Savannah King, Ivy King, Dalynn Hariel, Nyla Hariel, and Zoey Aycock; sister, Gay Frose; and those who were like her very own children, Trey Aycock, Jacob Hariel, and Elisa Lee. Jerri is preceded by her parents, John and Betty Vulliety; the best ex-husband anyone could ever have, John King. The family would like to give a big thank you to Paul Carroll for his hard work and taking care of Jerri’s yardwork when she couldn’t.
